We believe our contributions should benefit the communities where our associates live and work. To accomplish this, our giving programs focus on Ohio communities in the areas where our manufacturing operations are located, and to organizations in which our associates are involved.
In 1979, as Honda of America began operations in Ohio, a charitable foundation was established at Honda of America to provide financial support to help address the unique needs of our local communities.
Since then, through the Honda of America Foundation and company contributions, Honda has provided nearly $42 million to fund community-based projects throughout the central and west-central region of Ohio.
Honda of America supports programs and organizations in the areas of education, environment, safety, arts, culture, civic responsibility and community projects.

Honda's Matching Gifts program is designed to supplement associate-directed funding to cultural and educational organizations. Honda augments the associate's contribution to eligible organizations with a 50% match. Organizations that may be eligible for this funding include 4-year and 2-year colleges, technical institutes and arts and cultural organizations.

The United Way is committed to meeting the immediate health and human services needs of community members. United Way also focuses on long-term needs by developing comprehensive responses to projected problems and issues in the community.
Honda of America and its associates in Ohio have supported local United Way agencies since 1982, the year that the company began producing automobiles in Ohio. Since its inception, Honda's annual workplace campaign has provided more than $26.5 million to the United Way through Honda associate contributions and company matching funds.
In 2008, Honda of America's $1.7 million in support extended to United Way organizations in 67 of Ohio's 88 counties.
