At Honda of America Manufacturing, community involvement is more than financial contributions - it's personal involvement. Citizenship starts with each associate being active in their community by giving their time and themselves. Through the Honda Hero Program, Honda acknowledges volunteers and their work. They are recognized on the company's internal Honda News Network TV system, in the Wing publication, and through "Dollars for Doers" grants.

Honda Heroes are associates, spouses and retirees who volunteer their time to support community programs of their choice. Their volunteer hours, along with those of their spouses, are rewarded with "Dollars for Doers" grants of $250 to eligible non-profit organizations. Grants are made after an associate/spouse or retiree/spouse, alone or together, volunteer a total of 50 hours to one organization within a 12-month period. Nearly 1,800 associates, spouses and retirees, as well as part-time associates and their spouses, are enrolled in the Honda Hero Volunteer program. Honda Hero volunteers have donated more than 420,000 volunteer hours, and as a result non-profit organizations have received more than $850,000 in Dollars for Doers grants since 1995.
