Honda of America's Education Outreach program provides a variety of training opportunities for educators, school districts and educational service centers in 15 West Central Ohio counties.

Commitment to Education

The Education Outreach initiatives seek to:
-Enrich student achievement in K-12 public classrooms;
-Provide quality process and tools training to local school districts and educational service centers; and
-Encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning.

Additional components include Ohio Quality in Education Conference and the Ohio Department of Education/Honda Partnership.

Honda Partnership Program

The Honda Partnership Program is a collaboration between Honda of America and The Ohio State University that supports outreach initiatives in education, research and public service. This partnership positively impacts diverse global audiences of students, faculty, public and private sector practitioners, as well as the transportation industry.

In 1962, The OSU's College of Engineering established the Transportation Research Center (TRC) to coordinate and encourage transportation-related academic and research programs. Developed as a cooperative effort between the Ohio Department of Highways and the university, the OSU Board of Trustees approved a development

plan in 1966 and acquired the necessary land in Union and Logan counties.

In 1972, the Ohio legislature created TRC of Ohio and established the Transportation Research Board for the control, management, supervision, and direction of the center. In June 1979, the board contracted with OSU to manage TRC of Ohio's operations and staff.

On January 26, 1988, the property was sold to Honda and TRC Inc. was formed as successor to the Transportation Research Board. TRC Inc., a non-profit Ohio corporation affiliated with OSU, entered into a management agreement with Honda to continue to operate the research center as a multi-user, independent test site.
